I grow weary of hearing about extra marital affairs by public officials. Anything to fuel the pathetic reality TV existence that many Americans live by. What I want to know is why is this any of my business? I understand that when an actor or musician exhibits poor moral judgments when they aren't working on a movie or on tour. Otherwise they wouldn't be interesting all of the time. When a politician does something sexually immoral, however, it's a great time to shame them in front of their constituents. Funny how Bill Clinton can weather an affair and still finish his term (even with impeachment). I honestly don't care that he cheated on his wife. Democrats scream that he lied and no one died. He really just fell into the 'it's not illegal unless you get caught' clause. Americans didn't seem to care that he had an affair. They thought it made him more like a real person. It's the same with South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford. Oh wait. No it isn't. He's a conservative. Maybe if he was gay and he was actually going to meet his gay lover in Argentina, then people would have a better understanding. I understand it can be hard to be a governor, married to a woman with children but really wanting to come out of the closet. I really meant it. I'm not gay bashing. If he was gay, though, he would be able to apologize and announce that he's going to serve the rest of his term in 'shame'.
